Labuan Shipyard & Engineering Sdn Bhd (LSE), a subsidiary of Radimax Group, is a leading Malaysian engineering and construction company with core businesses in oil & gas, engineering and fabrication, shipbuilding, ship repair, refitting, modernisation and maintenance of naval crafts. Throughout the yard’s existence since 1972, it has accomplished a number of feats; including building and delivering offshore components ranging from living quarters to large integrated topsides, building and delivering vessels ranging from ship handling tugs to ocean going product tankers, as well as building and delivering power barges for international clients. The company had also fabricated and delivered two units of Single Point Mooring buoys (SPMs) for the Sabah Oil & Gas Terminal as well as two units of Mid Water Arches for the Cendor oil field development project.
These projects are the first of its kind to be built in Malaysia. The 33-hectare fabrication yard is ideally sited in the proximity of Victoria Harbour in Labuan, an island located at the west cost of Sabah in the South China Sea. The yard enjoys deep water access, shelter from monsoons, a free port status, and most importantly a strategic location close to the heart of one of the busiest shipping lanes in the South China Sea. LSE has a capacity of 36,000 tonnes per annum of product throughput. It is capable of building and handling ships of up to 16,500 DWT and offshore structures of up to 12,000 tonnes. It has equipped itself with the most advance state-of-the-art facilities. These facilities include 1,000 meter of wharf space, 50,000 square meters of open fabrication space, 28,000 square meters of covered fabrication space, 7,000 tonnes Syncrolift shiplift system, 12,000 tonnes and 3,000 tonnes skidways and quays, and other essential facilities, such as portal, gantry and mobile cranes, hydraulic jacks and winches.
Besides the strategic location and advanced facilities, LSE provides a complete range of capabilities and expertise necessary to execute a complex engineering project successfully and on schedule. These capabilities include engineering, project management, project planning, procurement, quality assurance and health, safety and environment. The success of LSE is also greatly contributed by its dedicated and skilled workforce. With all these advantages and its years of field experience, LSE is confident of its ability to achieve its vision to be a premier global integrated solution provider for the oil and gas and marine industries.
